Cybersecurity Certificate

Cybercrime related issues especially impact the State of Florida because a significant part of the state's economic development comes from tourism, international banking and high-tech industries. However, the number of scientists, engineers and experts with special skills in Cybersecurity is not on track with the need for such experts. In fact, high-tech industries from different divisions such as Information Technology, Financial Services, Digital Media or Interactive Entertainment, and Aviation and Aerospace can significantly benefit from this program, (i.e., companies like IBM, Symantec, Boeing and Lockheed Martin within Florida's high-tech corridor to name a few).

The Department of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science offers the Cybersecurity Certificate with a track in Computer Science (CS). This 12-credit certificate program allows students to expand their knowledge and skills to meet the needs of the cybersecurity field. The certificate is available to degree-seeking students, non-degree students and working professionals.

The program has two additional tracks, one offered by the Department of Mathematical Sciences in the College of Science and one offered by the ITOM Department in the College of Business.

Admission Requirements

  • Submission of official transcripts is required from all applicants.
  • Students must satisfy the prerequisites required for each course in the certificate program with a minimum grade of “C”.
  • All four courses in the program must be completed with a grade of "C" or better.
  • Students cannot obtain both a certificate and a minor in Cybersecurity.
