Professional Certificate Program in Big Data Analytics
On Campus and Fully Online
The collective problem of extracting and analyzing information from large sources of data has been coined "Big Data". Data scientists skilled in handling and gaining insights from Big Data are in high demand across various industries. The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science offers the Big Data Analytics Certificate with a track in Computer Science (CS). This 12-credit certificate program allows students to expand their knowledge with data analytics skills needed to analyze big and complex data.
The program is designed specifically for working professionals with courses offered in a flexible format that includes evenings, weekends, and online material using Canvas.
Admission Requirements
The certificate program is open to students who have a BS degree in Computer Science or a related field of Science and Engineering, a GPA of at least 3.0 and must satisfy the prerequisites required for each course in the program. Students must submit official transcripts.
Certificate Requirements
The certificate requires four courses (12 credits). Students must satisfy the prerequisites for each course in the program. The average GPA of all four courses counted in the program must be 3.0 or better.

Program Fees
The Professional Certificate Program in Big Data Analytics – CS Track is a full-service, all-inclusive program. The Program fees cover all program costs, including tuition, meals for on-campus Saturday classes, course materials and graduation activities.
Total Cost: $800 per credit-hour; total cost for 12 credit-hours is $9,600.

Admission Requirements
- Students are expected to have a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field of science and engineering.
- Submit official transcripts. The desirable minimum bachelor GPA is 3.0 (of a 4.0 maximum).
- Students must satisfy the prerequisites required for each course in the certificate program.
- All four courses in the program must be completed with a GPA of 3.0 or better.
