Membership

Member Privileges

There are many benefits to becoming a member of the Recreation and Fitness Center, such as access to the following:

  • The 10,000+ square-foot fitness center
  • Over 50 hours per week of group fitness classes including Yoga, Pilates, Cycle, etc.
  • Intramural sports leagues, tournaments and special events
  • Men and Women health club-style locker rooms
  • Multi-purpose gymnasium for basketball, volleyball and special events
  • Multipurpose Activity Court designed for basketball and indoor soccer
  • Aquatic Facility

Membership Options

Recreation and Fitness Center memberships are available to members of the community. FAU Faculty/Staff receive special discounted pricing on memberships, programs and services.

Student Membership
Campus Recreation facilities, services and programs are available to all FAU students during the semester for which they are registered. Facility access is granted a week before the first day of class each semester. Acess continues unitl the day before classes begin the following semester. Students qualify for the access by paying the required activity and service fees as part of their tuition. Graduating student's access will stop as the last day of the semster.

Stop-Out Student Membership
FAU student taking a single semester of grom their studies are welcome to purchase a Campus Recreation Membership. Stop-out Students ma purchase a Campus Recreation Membership for no more than one semester after the most recent semester of enrollment; Stop-out passes are not sold for consecutive semesters. Alumni are not elligible for this membership.

Faculty, AMP, SP, and Temporary staff are welcome to purchase a Campus Recreation Membership. FAU employment status or history will be verified. Faculty/STaff who wish to enroll in payroll deduction must make the first payment on a debit or credit card in person. Faculty/Staff who wish to start a membership online can do so by visiting owlrec.fau.edu.

Faculty / Staff Trial

Faculty and Staff are eligible for a one week membership trial.  During this trial week, you will have access to the Recreation & Fitness Center at no cost.  Equipment check-out, day use lockers, and towel service are all available to you during this trial.  Activate this trial week at any time by visiting the Front Desk at the Recreation & Fitness Center or by sending an email.

Purchase Options

To start a membership please visit the Recreation & Fitness Center during operating hours.

You are able to fulfill your payments through one of the following methods: MasterCard, VISA, American Express or Discover.

Faculty/Staff who wish to purchase the annual membership are able to pay for that via payroll deduction. Monthly member deductions will come out of the first paycheck of every month.

Tax will be assessed to all membership prices at the time of purchase.

Membership Policies

Renewals

Annual Memberships will expire one calendar year from the date of registration. Patrons will receive an email one month prior to expiration date to remind you of your upcoming expiration date. Renewals are able to be processed over the phone or in person. If medical history has changed within the last year, it is up to the patron to inform the membership staff, as the PAR-Q will need to be updated and you may be asked to provide a medical waiver.

Cancellations

All monthly membership cancellations must be submitted through the cancellation form above. 
  • Cancellations made within the first 3 months of join date are subject to a $30 cancellation fee.
  • Cancellations received on the 1-15th of the month: membership will terminate at the end of that month and automatic withdrawals will stop with that month's payment.
  • Cancellations received on the 16th-last day of the month: membership will terminate at the end of the following month and automatic withdrawals will stop after the following month's deduction.

Refunds

Refunds are processed on a case by case basis, typically for a medical reason or extenuating circumstance. For refunds requested due to medical reasons, we ask that you provide written documentation from a doctor's office. Refunds will not be processed due to lack of use of membership, travel, or moving.

Guest Passes

Guest Passes are available for anyone who is wantinf to workout at Campus Recreation for the day or try our facility before purchasing a membership.

Policies

  1. Guest must have valid photo ID to enter the Recreation & Fitness Center
  2. All guests must fill out our guest pass application at the Front Desk.
  3. For liability purposes, all guests of age are required to pay the fee and fill out application regardless of activity.
  4. FAU Recreation & Fitness Center Management has the right to revoke guest privileges at any time without refund.
  5. Guest Memberships are non-refundable and nontransferable.
  6. Participation in Intramural Sports and Sport Clubs are not allowed with a Guest Pass.
  7. 3 and 7 day guest passes must be consecutive days.

Locker Service

Daily Use Lockers

A section of lockers will be available for daily use on a first come, first serve basis. Box lockers with single use locks are located outside the group fitness studios. To use a half or full locker inside the locker room patrons are encouraged to bring their own lock.

Locks must be removed when the patron leaves the facility. Any locks that remain on lockers at close will be cut off and the locker will be cleared out. Contents will be placed in a bag and stored in Lost and Found for 2 weeks. If the items are not claimed at the end of two weeks, they will discarded.

Locker Rental

Lockers, full or half size, are available to rent on a semester or annual basis. ADA lockers are also available will be reserved for patrons with disabilities. See the table below for prices on the lockers

Lockers rented for the semester will expire the first Monday after commencement.  New semester locker rentals will be available beginning the first Wednesday after commencement. Annual rentals run from date of purchase until the 25th of the purchase month the following year.  For example, an annual locker rental paid for during the month of May 2015 will expire on May 25, 2016.

Locker Rental Renewals

All patrons will receive an email one month prior to their locker expiring.

We ask if you wish to renew your same locker, to visit the Membership Services Office before your current expiration date. Any locker not renewed by the expiration date will be cleared, the combination changed and resold.

If you do not wish to renew your locker, all items must be removed by 5pm on the date of expiration.  Non-renewed lockers will have their combinations changed and will be cleared by Campus Recreation staff and made available to a new user. Please note, remaining items will be donated or discarded by a Campus Recreation staff.
