Mission
Through its programs in Engineering and Computer Science, the College:
- Educates those who will contribute to the advancement of technical knowledge and who will be leaders in their profession.
- Conducts basic and applied research in engineering, computer science and related interdisciplinary areas.
- Provides service to the engineering and computer science professions, to the State of Florida, to the nation, and to the community at large.
Goals
The College's goals are results-oriented. As a community of scholars, the College will:
- Encourage young people to consider careers in engineering and computer science by introducing them to these fields while in middle and high school.
- Prepare our graduates in ways that provide them a basis for lifelong personal and professional development and that enables them to exercise leadership and make lasting contributions in their disciplines.
- Continue on new roads of research and discovery in our existing areas of expertise, in emerging disciplines and in related interdisciplinary areas.
- Provide the educational resources that working professionals need to keep pace with developments in their field.
- Magnify our positive impact in serving regional, State, national, and global needs by building mutually beneficial linkages with business, industry, community colleges, K-12 programs and schools and other constituencies.
About the College of Engineering & Computer Science
The College of Engineering and Computer Science at Florida Atlantic University is dedicated to shaping the future through cutting-edge research and transformative education. Internationally recognized for our expertise in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence, Biomedical Engineering, Civil, Environmental, and Geomatics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Ocean Engineering, we stand as pioneers in technological advancements.
Research conducted by our faculty and their teams expose our students to technology innovations that push the current state of the art of the disciplines. The College research efforts are supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF), the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Department of Defense (DOD), the Department of Transportation (DOT), the Department of Education (DoED), the State of Florida, and Industry.
The College of Engineering and Computer Science offers 34 degree programs at the Bachelors, Masters and Ph.D. level with a modern twist that bear specializations in areas of national priority such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, internet of things, transportation and supply chain management, and data science. New degree programs include Masters of Science in AI (first in FL), Bachelors and Masters of Science in Data Science and Analytics, Ph.D. in Transportation and Environmental Engineering and the new Professional Masters of Science and Ph.D. in Computer Science for working professionals.

Research
The College has extensive research programs funded by business, industry and government. These initiatives are the hallmark of the College. Eleven research centers provide focus for College research activities.
Internships, Co-ops and E-learning
Students can gain practical work experience in their disciplines prior to graduation. The College works with business, industry and government to arrange internships, traditional cooperative education and permanent placement opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students.
