STILES-NICHOLSON BRAIN INSTITUTE

David and Lynn Nicholson Center for Neurodegenerative Disease Research

The mission of the  David and Lynn Nicholson Center for Neurodegenerative Disease Research  is to pioneer transformative research on neurodegenerative diseases and enable the discovery and development of life-saving treatments for Alzheimer's disease and related dementias, Parkinson's disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and other degenerative diseases of the central nervous system. The center will foster synergies between teams with complementary expertise, thereby accelerating research and advances in diagnostic, prevention and therapeutic development. The center reflects Florida Atlantic University’s dynamic development and commitment to bringing premier research and academic medicine to Southeast Florida.

The Center for Neurodegenerative Disease Research will provide the technological, intellectual, educational, medical and collaborative environment to perform cutting-edge research, support Florida Atlantic and affiliated investigators, attract new talent, and will enhance the potential for rapid advancement of existing and future programs towards clinical applications. The center’s activities will contribute to the mission of the Stiles-Nicholson Brain Institute to bridge neuroscience and public understanding of science and will foster sustained federal, foundation and individual philanthropic financial support to fuel discovery and disease intervention. The center's basic and translational research output will strongly support Florida Atlantic’s commitment and actions to enhance health and quality of life in our community and nationwide.
