Even if your group is not made up of 10 people we can still run your program but we will have to charge for a minimum of 10 participants.

No. Our clubs strive to cater to all levels of participation and skill. Some clubs may have competitive travel squads in addition to members that simply wish to practice.

No, the University does not require a medical exam or physical for participation in sport clubs. However, a participation waiver must be completed and approved by the Sport Programs Administrative Staff in order for any individual to participate in club activities. Campus Recreation suggests that a physical be taken before participating in any club’s physical activity. It is the responsibility of each participant to ascertain whether they are sufficiently physically fit to participate.

No! While some clubs are more competitive and may host tryouts for the travel squad that competes at different contests, they may not cut interested students from their club.

Member dues vary from club to club. The Sport Programs Administrative Staff does not set the individual club dues so the easiest way to find out specific information concerning club’s dues is to contact the club’s president directly. To find out a club’s contact information, visit our club directory.

The first step in the new student organization formation process is to complete and submit a Statement of Intent to Organize form with the Office of Student Activities & Involvement. Once this form is approved, your new organization is classified as an "Interest Group." At that point, you will be given instructions on the remainder of the formation process. You have SIX weeks to advertise and hold meetings to recruit members.

For vehicle rentals, Sport Clubs has an agreement with AVIS, which offers affordable rates.

Clubs may have committees to allow more members to be involved in club governance and normal operations. Such committees may assist the club in recruiting new members, special events, alumni relations, etc.

All important messages and reminders are sent out to the club’s officers through sportclubs@fau.edu. All club officers’ email should be kept up-to-date with the Sport Programs Administrative Staff. Email is the easiest way to get in contact with the Sport Programs Administrative Staff to discuss any issues. General emails should be sent sportclubs@fau.edu.

Due to limited space, the Sport Clubs pages contain only the basic contact information for the club. If your club would like a more elaborate webpage, it needs to be maintained by the club. Websites should follow University guidelines and be in good taste. Sport Clubs sites may not be directly linked to commercial vendors.

Funndraising is a great way for clubs to raise money, and can help inform the community about your organization and its purpose. All Sport Clubs who plan to host a fundraising event MUST submit an Event Request. For general fundraising guidelines and fundraising ideas, refer to the RSO Manual found in the Campus Links section on Owl Central.

Students and Rec Members may request a specific Personal Trainer; however, we cannot guarantee an exact match. The personal training staff will do its best to pair trainers and clients appropriately based on goals, availability and client preference.

YES! Please review our Non-Member pricing above. Be sure to select the appropriate option if checking out online (You will want to select a package that is labeled: “Community Member, Household Adult, Alumni”). Remember: purchasing a Recreation Center Membership may benefit you in the long run, with reduce Personal Training prices and full access to our facilities outside of your scheduled training sessions. For additional information about Memberships to the Recreation & Fitness Center, please contact the Membership Office at campusrec@fau.edu or 561-297-4512.

A client may choose to “upgrade” his or her personal training package at any point prior to using 50% of the sessions purchased. At this point, the client will pay the difference between the original and upgraded package. After using 50% of the sessions purchased, a client must complete the initial package prior to purchasing additional sessions.

Personal Trainers will make recommendations to clients based on goals and time constraints; however, it is ultimately up to the client to decide how many times per week to meet. Training schedules are typically discussed between the trainer and client during the initial consultation before the first training session.

All Personal Training packages are non-refundable and non-transferable. Clients will not be reimbursed for unused sessions. Sessions will expire 12 months after purchase date.

If a trainer is not notified at least 24 hours in advance to cancel or reschedule a session, the session will count against the client’s package.

Intramural Sports (IMs) are organized sport competitions between Florida Atlantic students and/or members. They consist of competitive and/or recreational sport leagues, tournaments, virtual programs, and special events. Campus Recreation provides student officials and all the necessary equipment.

Intramural Sports involves competition between students, faculty/staff, and Campus Recreation members on the Boca Raton campus. Sport Clubs offer Florida Atlantic students the ability to travel and compete against teams from other universities on regional and national levels.

Florida Atlantic offers Men's, Women's, Co (set ratio of males and females), and Open (no gender requirements) sports activities. Players may participate in both a Men’s/Women’s league, along with a Co/Open league in the same season.

No, all Florida Atlantic students currently registered for classes are welcome to participate in Intramural Sports. Faculty/Staff, alumni, etc. must purchase a “Community” Campus Recreation membership before participating in Intramural Sports. Individuals with a “Red” FAU Campus Recreation membership are NOT eligible to participate. A photo ID and proof of membership must be presented before participation in every Intramural contest or activity.

All Intramural Sports games are held on the Boca Raton campus at Florida Atlantic. Outdoor sports locations can vary, but typically are held at the Track & Field Complex near the basketball arena, or Henderson Field near Henderson High School. Indoor sports are typically held at the Recreation and Fitness Center at the North end of the Breezeway. Each sport will list its specific location when you register. Most Intramural Sports games are held Sunday 5 PM - 10 PM and Monday through Thursday evenings 5 PM - 11 PM.

Team rosters are typically capped at 2.5x the number of people needed to field a full team. For sports that require a fewer number of players, the roster maximum may be lower.

Some teams may elect to hold practices on their own, but there are no scheduled practices for Intramural Sports.

If you know for sure that your team will not have enough players to participate in a game, you should default the match. This can be done by emailing imsports@fau.edu with your team name, the sport, and your intention to default prior to 3:00 PM the day of the game or 5:00 PM on the Friday before a weekend game. Doing so will still count as a loss, but you will not be assessed a forfeit fee and the team will preserve a sportsmanship rating of 3.0 for the match. Additionally, this allows the office to see if other teams would like to fill your place in an extra game (does not count towards standings) or adjust our staffing schedule for the evening.

Individuals not on a team but interested in playing Intramural Sports can register as a “Free Agent” for a specific activity on IMLeagues.com. Once registered as a free agent, teams can request to add you to their team, or you can request to join a team. If there are enough free agents to fill a full roster, the Sport Programs Office could create a free-agent team if league space is available.

Teams are permitted to utilize our nomad rule to help ensure they have enough players to field a full team. A “Nomad” is a participant who is already on an existing roster, but will temporarily be playing for another team to help them have enough players for the game. You can only add enough nomad players to meet the full amount needed to play (e.g., 5 players for basketball). This is a great way to avoid forfeiting a game. Nomads are not permitted in the playoffs.

Due to space and staff limitations, reschedules are not available for regular season games. During the playoffs, if a team is unable to play a scheduled game, they are responsible for submitting a reschedule request and working with the other team to find a new time that works for both teams. The team wishing to reschedule should email the Sport Programs office at imsports@fau.edu before the day of the game. Reschedule requests must be approved no later than 3:00 PM the day of the scheduled game. A limited number of rescheduled opportunities will be allowed in the playoffs.

Inclement weather does happen and we will do our best to notify you in advance about any weather cancelations. Games will either be canceled by 4:00 PM if we anticipate lightning or other inclement weather, or as soon as we make the determination that it is no longer safe to play. An email will be sent from IMLeagues to all participates scheduled to play notifying them of the cancelation. We suggest making sure your phone number is up to date in IMLeagues and that you accept the text messages so that we can update you on late notifications due to weather. If you have not received an email from IMLeagues, plan on your game happening.

There are a few different things that could cause this to happen. First, you need to have a roster that meets the standard number of players for that sport (e.g., 5 players for basketball) and the required number of males/females if it is a Co-league. Next, if the division preferences you submitted were already full, IMLeagues will not automatically move you into a division. You can still move your own team into an open slot or contact us to move it for you at imsports@fau.edu. Your team is not considered registered until it meets the roster minimum and has been slotted into a division.

We are constantly on the lookout for people passionate about sports to become Intramural Sports Officials. Please check out the Join Out Team page under "About Us" on the Campus Recreation website. You can also contact imsports@fau.edu for more information.

All first year admitted students at the Wilkes Honors College are required to live on-campus for their first two years of enrollment. Students must be enrolled as a full-time, degree seeking undergraduate. A resident may be required to depart from University Housing if enrolled credit hours drop below full-time status, at the request of the Executive Director of Housing or designee.

All first year admitted students at the Wilkes Honors College are required to live on-campus for their first two years of enrollment. Non-Honors College students who attend the Jupiter Campus can also apply for housing but are not required to do so. Exceptions are made for those students who are 24 years of age or older at the date of matriculation, or for those who are married, have dependent children, or have been honorably discharged from the US Military. Students who wish to be exempt must apply prior to the start of the academic year need to contact jupiterhousing@fau.edu for more information.

There is a priority date to complete a housing application for newly admitted first-year students for priority consideration. Exceptions will be made for those students who are admitted to the university after this. The earlier you turn in your Housing Contract, the more likely you will receive one of your preferred assignment locations.

Students who are participating in the Housing Plan of the Florida Prepaid Program must submit materials no later than June 1st in order to receive proper billing on their account. Please be advised that the Florida Prepaid Program only covers a portion of the Housing fees, leaving the student responsible for the remaining balance.

Once signed and returned, the Housing Contract represents a legal, binding document for the duration of the academic year. For specific cancellation information, refer to the cancellation paragraphs of the Housing Contract.

A one-time non-refundable administration charge of $100 will be accessed to all first time applicants when completing the Housing Contract. The remainder of the Fall payment shall be paid on or before the published payment dates, which can be found by visiting the Tuition and Billing Services website.

Many student residents receive financial aid. These awards are intended to first provide coverage for tuition and student fees. Any remaining dollars may be applied to University Housing. However, in order for students to take advantage of financial aid dollars being automatically applied to their housing charges, three steps must be completed:

1. Financial aid must first have been awarded

2. The Student must have signed an acceptance letter for all awards

3. The acceptance letter must have been returned to the Office of Student Financial Aid.

If the total amount of financial aid awarded to the student DOES exceed tuition and other fees, and if sufficient dollars are available to cover Housing charges, the remaining dollars may be applied to Housing charges.

If there is only partial financial aid remaining after tuition and fees have been paid by financial aid, the Student is required to pay in full all remaining Housing charges not covered by financial aid prior to moving into their assigned space.

If the total amount of financial aid awarded to the student DOES NOT exceed tuition and other fees, the Student must make payment of all remaining Housing charges prior to moving into their assigned space.

Students who have pending financial aid awards will be required to pay in full all Housing fees prior to moving into their assigned space and then may reimburse themselves when financial aid is awarded and distributed during the fall semester.

Please refer to the Occupancy Period section of your Housing Contract or the Important Dates section of the Residence Hall Brochure.

If you are having a problem with your suitemate(s), you should talk to your Resident Assistant (RA). Your RA lives on your floor or assigned area, and is an upper-division student who has been carefully selected and trained to assist you throughout the academic year. Very often the RA will talk with the Hall Coordinator or Assistant Director and help resolve your problem, usually with a meeting of all parties involved. It is important that you maintain an open line of communication with your roommates so that you can talk about problems you may be having. We expect our residents to treat each other as adults and discuss their differences openly. That is the first step in resolving differences.

If you continue to have problems, and have worked initially with your RA you may next contact the Hall Coordinator or Assistant Director. These individuals are full-time, professionally trained staff member who can assist you in taking additional steps.

A room transfer freeze period is in effect from the time your initial assignment is made until two weeks into the fall semester. The Fall Freeze allows us to locate all available spaces. You may complete a Room Transfer Request Form - found at the Housing Office in the lobby of Building 1. You also need to realize that it probably won't be possible to move to every building at every time of the year, especially at the beginning of the fall semester. In fact, it may take more than a semester to switch into a new room.

The Residence Halls are closed during all breaks and University holidays; however, during these breaks, students who need to stay during this period are required to sign up and request permission. This is to provide additional security during the break.

Students who do not need to stay on campus during breaks and University holidays do NOT need to remove their belongings. We do ask, however, that they empty their refrigerators (to avoid spoilage) and power off electrical items such as televisions, computers, etc.

No microwaves or refrigerators are provided in the residence halls.
Residents may bring a small refrigerator and/or microwave. Refrigerators should be no larger than 4.2 cubic feet and should have a maximum of 400 watts at 120 volts. Microwave ovens should be no more than 1.5 cubic feet capacity and should have a maximum of 1100 watts at 120 volts.

Carpeting in student rooms IS provided in the residence halls. Vacuums are not provided by the university, so students are encouraged to bring their own.

Check out our website for specific information regarding how to make internet connections: www.fau.edu/oit/wireless/. Free, high-speed internet access is provided in the residence halls.

Yes. Currently FAU contracts with Comcast Cable Television for general programming, at no additional cost to you. No premium channels are available.

Yes. You must register your car or motorcycle with FAU Traffic and Parking and display a current on-campus parking decal. Check out the web page for information concerning these topics at FAU Traffic and Parking.

Residence Halls and Apartments will not close for the Winter Break. Residents will not lose building access throughout the break. Residents who have a Spring Housing contract may come and go during the Winter Break as they please.

24 hour quiet hours are observed in the residence halls during reading days and final exam periods.
START: November 30th at 10:00 p.m.
END: December 11th at 12:00 p.m.

Yes. Students who are returning to the same room for the spring semester may leave their items in their rooms.
Please remove all of your personal items from restrooms so we may prepare these areas for any new spring residents moving in to the suite.

Prior to leaving for break you are responsible for reviewing the items on the Residence Hall Winter Break checklist posted on Residence Hall bulletin boards. This will also be shared by your Resident Assistant. Some of the important items to note include:

Clean & Defrost your refrigerator if you live in an apartment, discard your food in the refrigerator when you leave for break or move-out if you are not returning.
Remove all food and trash from the living space.
Clean your restroom.
Set thermostat to 78 degrees or mid-setting.
Make sure all lights are turned off.
Make sure all water faucets are off.
Do not forget laundry in the washer or dryers.
Clear your mailbox. If you are not returning for the spring, complete a forwarding mail form at the mail center.
Schedule a move-out appointment with your RA ONLY if you are moving out and not returning for the Spring semester.

Students who are not returning for the Spring semester must be completely moved out by December 11 at 12:00 p.m. If you are not moved-out, with your keys returned and move-out form completed by your assigned move-out time you will be charged $150 improper check-out fee and your items in your room will be discarded. The fee will be added to your student account. Make sure you check your student account and pay any improper check out fees, damage fees, and lock changes due to lost keys.

If you are not returning for the Spring semester:

Remove all items from your room space and shared community areas.
Schedule your Fall move-out appointment with your RA by December 10.
If you opt to complete an Express check out form instead of having your room checked, you waive the right to appeal any housing damage and lock change fees.
If you complete an Express check out form place your room and mailbox key in the Express check out envelope to avoid being charged for a lock change.

Work with your roommates/suitemates to fill out a Roommate/Suitemate Agreement, these are available in the Housing portal. Please read the Agreement carefully, as ALL those living in the room must agree and sign the form. Also, we encourage students to leave their spaces cleaner than they found them.

We make every effort to resolve roommate conflicts. Before deciding to change rooms, please contact your Resident Assistant on your floor first to see what he/she can do to mediate the situation. Our Residence Education staff has been trained to help you with issues affecting you and your roommate.

We recognize that social networking sites provide a lot of potential information about your future roommates. However, we do encourage you to make contact with your new roommate before requesting a room change through our office. Impressions made through these websites are not always accurate pictures, and creates generalizations which may be false. In general, we do not make changes in room assignments until after the semester begins.

Currently there is no live on requirement for students attending the Boca Raton Campus. This does not apply to students attending the Wilkes Honors College. As we no longer have a live-on requirement if you want to live on campus you should apply early as housing does fill quickly.

Please Note – There is a $100 non-refundable application fee required to complete a housing application. The FAU Housing contract is a legally binding document. It is similar to a lease, do not submit unless you read and agree to the terms stating that you want to live on campus.

Login to the Housing Portal with your FAUNetID and password.
Click on Housing Applications and select the blue Apply button to start your housing application.

The priority date for new incoming first year students to apply for housing is March 20, 2026. Priority is given by date of the housing contract is completed. Spring residents are given priority to renew their housing contract for the Fall 2026-Spring 2027 academic year and will be assigned housing based on Priority groups as shared on the housing renewal webpage.

The Florida Pre-Paid Dormitory Plan is designed to pay for a double-occupancy, air-conditioned residence hall room at a State University in Florida. At Florida Atlantic University, this is currently defined as a double room in Heritage Park Towers or Glades Park Towers. Florida Pre-Paid determines the allowable housing amount by June 1st of each year. A Student who is a Florida Pre-Paid Dormitory Plan participant may request a room preference that is not covered by Florida Pre-Paid. However, the student is responsible for any charges not covered by the Florida Pre-Paid Dormitory Plan. The Dormitory Plan will not cover the $100 non-refundable application processing fee.

A limited number of spaces are designed to be accessible and can accommodate students with special needs. The specific nature of your disability should be identified so we can work with you to meet your needs for your housing assignment. You must register with the Student Accessibility Services. Specific written documentation will be requested from you and your physician or diagnostician to support the request; that documentation will be evaluated by the SAS staff and recommendations to the Housing Office will be made regarding your needs, the appropriate modifications, and housing assignments. Please allow time for the review process. Make sure you complete your Housing Contract by the priority date and SAS registration and documentation prior to June 1 for the Fall semester and November 1 for the Spring semester.

International students who will be degree-seeking should apply through the regular International Admissions Application process. Please visit the International Students Admissions website to get started with the admissions process.

International students who are part of an exchange or cooperative program that have an institutional agreement with FAU may apply to live on campus as a non-degree seeking student, please look at our living options. Once you determine you want to live on campus, complete the housing application and contract. Please visit the International Programs website for more information.

The remainder of the housing fees are due when FAU tuition and fees are due. Please refer to the Academic Calendar for these deadlines. Payment in full must be received in order for the Student to be permitted to reside in his/her assigned space. Payments may be made online at myFAU.

The Florida Prepaid Dormitory Plan covers the cost of a standard, double occupancy, and air-conditioned residence hall. At FAU, this covers our standard doubles in Glades Park Towers and Heritage Park Towers. Florida Prepaid determines these rates each year, and if your assigned hall room is more expensive, you must pay the difference in cost on your balance. Should you have further questions about your plan to see if your housing is covered, please contact Florida Prepaid at 1-800-552-4723.

Many student residents receive financial aid. These awards are intended to first provide coverage for tuition and student fees. Any remaining dollars may be applied to University Housing. However, in order for students to take advantage of financial aid dollars being automatically applied to their Housing charges, three steps must be completed: • Financial aid must first have been awarded. • The Student must have signed an acceptance letter for all awards. • The acceptance letter must have been returned to the Office of Student Financial Aid. If the total amount of financial aid awarded to the student DOES exceed tuition and other fees, and if sufficient dollars are available to cover housing and dining charges, the remaining dollars may be applied to other FAU charges. If there is only partial financial aid remaining after tuition and fees have been paid by financial aid, the Student is required to pay in full all remaining housing and dining charges not covered by financial aid prior to moving into their assigned space. If the total amounts of financial aid awarded to the student DOES NOT exceed tuition and other fees, the Student must make payment of all remaining housing and dining charges prior to moving into their assigned space. Students who have pending financial aid awards will be required to pay in full for all housing and dining fees and then may “reimburse” themselves when financial aid is awarded and distributed during the semester.

The Reassignment Request form will be available to students with an assignment in the Housing Portal from March 16 at 9 a.m. to July 13 at 5 p.m.

Students may request one different room type.

Students may request one different roommate.
Requests must include the first name, last name, and Z# of the desired roommate.
Reassignments will be granted only if space becomes available for both students in the same room or suite.
It is unlikely that Housing and Residential Education will be able to accommodate a request for a different space AND a different roommate due to the demand for campus housing.

Reassignments are processed on a rolling basis until July 13th but are not guaranteed due to high demand.
Reassignments to a different room type are based on cancellations.
Roommate pairing requests will only be accommodated if two open spaces become available in the same room or suite.

Students who do not receive their requested reassignment may cancel their housing if they meet the Terms and Conditions of the Contract.
Cancellation reasons and fees are outlined in Section 10, Page 5 of the Terms and Conditions of the Contract.

Students may submit one reassignment request for either a different roommate OR a different room type.

Students have 48 hours to accept a reassignment offer via their FAU email.

The offer will include the room type you are being offered and the semester rate.

A new housing assignment with be sent to your FAU email within 48 business hours.
Roommate/suitemate details will be available on the Housing Application Status page in the Housing Portal.

No, once a reassignment is accepted, the original room assignment cannot be restored because that space will have been offered to another student.

The student will be removed from the reassignment list.
The original housing assignment will remain active for the semester.
The student will not be offered another reassignment and will remain financially obligated to their housing contract.

Yes, any student who has received a housing assignment may request a reassignment one time until July 13th.

Students who are being offered a reassignment will be notified if there is an approved ESA or services animal in the suite. However, ESA’s and service animals are often not approved until later in the summer. You will be notified when Housing and Residential Education is aware of the ESA or service animal. If you are not able to live with an ESA or service animal, please register with SAS.

Students who request a reassignment prior to move-in will not receive priority for a room change after move-in.
Room change requests after move-in begin two weeks into the semester and are subject to availability.

The remainder of the housing fees are due when FAU tuition and fees are due. Please refer to the Academic Calendar for these deadlines. Payment in full must be received in order for the Student to be permitted to reside in his/her assigned space. Payments may be made online at myFAU.

No, once you are assigned to a room you cannot change your assignment until after the 2nd week of classes.

The room assignments are on a first come, first served basis, so the date you apply determines the order in which we make assignments. The earlier you apply for housing, and register for classes, the better chance to get your preferred living style.

Many students find potential roommates through social media groups, but students can also select to have a random roommate when filling out their Housing application. If students select to have a random roommate, they will be paired based on room preference well as the lifestyle questions that are asked during the Housing contract.

During the housing contract process, students are asked lifestyle questions. Answers to these questions determine roommate pairing as well as the students room preferences. Apply early and complete your course registration as this affects placement with students who have matching lifestyle questions.

Entering first year students can search for other first year students as a roommate through the Housing contract process to see who has a similar percentage of matching based on the lifestyle questions. The higher the percentage for matching, the more similar answers they have. Entering first year students who know another entering first year student attending Florida Atlantic can request that student as a roommate by searching for the students Z#. Entering first year students must have a completed housing contract and the roommate match must be completed by May 1. Students visited the Roommate Request page of the Housing contract to search and request a roommate after they have completed the housing contract. The Roommate Request page becomes available after the housing contract is completed in its entirety.

For new first year students, within the process of filling out your Housing contract you are asked to complete the lifestyle questions. That is used to help students select roommates with similar lifestyles. And Housing also uses it as well to help pair students. Students can visit the Roommate Request page of the Housing contract to search and request a roommate after they have completed the housing contract. For returning students, you can complete this process during contract renewal.

We send out e-mails notification typically beginning in May. Additional notifications are done throughout the summer as needed until all students are placed.

Room assignments are not guaranteed, and because of the limitations of preferred spaces we attempt to proceed to your second choice until all assignments are made. We have a limited number of single bedrooms available, so by applying early, you have the best strategy to maximize the chance to get your room preference matched.

If you are staying in Heritage Park Towers over the summer, your package pick-up point will be in Atlantic Park Towers.
If you are staying in IVA over the summer, your package pick-up point will be in IVA-South.
If you are staying in RH1, RH2, or RH3 during the summer, your package pick-up point will be in RH3.

Housing assignments for renewal applications will be made by priority groups. The application date is not a factor for a housing assignment. Priority groups are based on the student’s year of entry. Within each priority group housing assignments will be determined by the student’s tuition deposit date to the university and if they are part of a roommate group, the roommate’s year of entry and tuition deposit date will also be a consideration.
1st Priority Group
Spring residential students who started during Summer and Fall 2025 or Spring 2026 as a first-year student.

2nd Priority Group
Spring residential students who started during 2024 or Spring 2025 and Transfer residential students who started during 2025 or 2026.

3rd Priority Group
Spring residential students who started during 2023.

4th Priority Group
Spring residential students who started during 2022.

5th Priority Group*
Spring residential Graduate students and 2nd bachelor degree students.

*We anticipate students in priority groups 4 and 5 to be waitlisted. The waitlist number for Graduate students and 2nd Bachelor degree student will be determined by their acceptance date as a tuition deposit is not required for these students.

Atlantic Park Towers, Indian River Towers, Heritage Park Towers and Glades Park Towers are first year only residence halls. Students renewing their housing application may not add preferences for first year residence halls.

Yes, all students residing in Parliament Hall, Jupiter residence halls or any other residence hall are required to have a residential meal plan. The current meal plan rates are subject to change for Fall 2026.

Click here for a full description on inclusive housing. If you have more questions after you review this information, we encourage you contact us by email at housing@fau.edu or by phone at 561-297-2880.

Please revisit the general questions page of the housing contract to change your answer(s) up to February 2nd at 5:00 p.m.

Talk to this person that you are trying to request to make sure that person completed a housing application for 2026 - 2027. They must have a completed housing application.

Make sure they have the same answer to inclusive Housing on the General Questions page of the housing application.

Make sure they have checked the box to participate in roommate matching on the Lifestyle Questions page of the housing application.

No, you do not have to request a roommate. If you receive a roommate request you may decline the roommate request or allow the request to expire. If you do not decline the roommate request, all roommate requests expire within 2 days.

We cannot guarantee you will get your preferred room type. There are steps you can take to help increase your chances. First, add the room preference as your #1 choice for your room preference on your application. Additional factors that affect placement include your priority group and tuition deposit date to FAU. If you match with a roommate (s) their priority group and tuition deposit date can affect your assignment. Certain room types are extremely limited. IVAN 2-bedroom apartments have the highest demand. Demand exceeds capacity for many rooms types and we are NOT able to guarantee that every student will receive one of their room type preferences.

Yes, this could impact your roommate group’s assignment. We do our best to keep roommate groups together, but we prioritize students in Priority Groups 1 and 2 in the assignment process. It is possible that students in your roommate group will not be assigned with you or not assigned if they are in Priority Groups 3 and 4. Assignments are made by priority group and tuition deposit date.

Unfortunately, you may not add or change roommates’ requests after 5:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Housing has limited spaces that allow for roommate pairing and we are not able to accommodate roommate changes or requests after February 2nd at 5:00 p.m.

Students who do not receive a housing assignment on February 20 and are notified that they are waitlisted will remain active for a housing placement as long as they stay on the waitlist. Housing assignments for waitlisted students will be made throughout the summer up through the second week of classes. Waitlisted students have two options:
Do nothing. Stay on the housing wait list. The housing department will provide monthly updates on your status starting in the beginning of May. We do anticipate being able to accommodate students from the waitlist during the Summer and the weeks preceding Fall opening.
If at any time prior to being assigned a space, you may cancel the housing application. There is no financial penalty as long as you cancel prior to being assigned. Simply complete the housing cancellation form at fau.edu/housing/cancellation/. This gives you the flexibility if you sign a lease elsewhere and/or if you no longer need on-campus housing.

FAU Housing works closely to use ADA designated units for our students who require accommodations. Remaining spaces are assigned to our general student population. Students are not able to cancel or decline a housing assignment due to being assigned a space that has ADA modifications nor are these units discounted for modifications.

Students may request a room reassignments through the Housing Portal starting on March 12 up to July 1st. Room reassignments are not guaranteed. Please refer to the Reassignment webpage FAQ’s. Or students may cancel their housing assignment by the deadline of February 27th, 2026. There is no penalty for canceling by February 27th. Thereafter, the Terms and Conditions within the housing application will apply.

We do not anticipate room assignments changing before Fall move in. However, your room could change if a roommate is approved for an Emotional Support Animal, or through room consolidation if we have to change the enter gender of your assigned unit. We will make every effort to notify you in advance if we need to change your assignment and if we do, it would be to the same room type.

You have until February 2nd at 5:00 p.m. to change your room preferences on the room preference page within the housing application.

The housing application is an academic year application for Fall 2026 - Spring 2027. However, there are some reasons per the Terms and Conditions that do allow for canceling the Spring portion of your housing application. For example, if you will be away for Spring 2027 for an internship or if you will graduate at the end of the Fall semester, you may cancel the Spring portion of the housing application. Housing will email cancellation reminders to students in October to remind them to cancel the Spring 2027 portion of the housing application.

Students who are notified that they are waitlisted will remain active for housing placement as long as they do not cancel their Housing Contract. Housing assignments for waitlisted students will be made throughout the summer and up through the second week of fall classes. Waitlisted students have two options:

Stay on the housing waitlist. The housing department will provide frequent updates to waitlisted applicants and their waitlist number will refresh in real time on the Housing Portal. We anticipate being able to accommodate many students from the waiting list, especially in the weeks preceding fall opening.
Waitlisted applicants may cancel their housing application. There is no financial penalty as long as cancellation occurs prior to being assigned a space. In order to cancel, you must complete the Housing Cancellation form at fau.edu/housing/cancellation/. This gives you the flexibility if you sign a lease elsewhere and/or if you no longer need on-campus housing, you may cancel without any financial penalty.

Demand for on-campus housing is very high. We have seen a surge in the last four years in the number of returning residents who want to live on campus. In prior years, our return rates hovered around 50-55%. In the last two years, these rates have risen to over 70%.

This depends on how many students also continue to stay on the waitlist, and how many students cancel their Housing Contract. Based on our experience with the Boca Raton campus from last year, we expect to accommodate more than 400 students from the waitlist before the first day of fall classes. For our Jupiter Wilkes Honors College campus, we expect to accommodate more than 30 students from the waitlist. At the same time, many students who are on the waitlist make alternative arrangements and cancel from the waitlist. This means that students who are in a position to wait for a space can often be accommodated to live on campus. Please note, this is not a guarantee. Every student’s circumstances are different. If you are in a situation where you can wait, it can often increase your chances for being able to obtain a space.

The waitlist number is primarily determined by your year of entry and tuition deposit.

A student’s living distance from the university may be taken into consideration, however, priority is primarily based on the criteria explained previously in question #4.

You can review the list of off-campus properties on the Off-Campus Housing website offcampushousing.fau.edu/. FAU does not own or manage any Off-Campus Housing properties, and these are third-party listings that you would be responsible for communicating with directly. We do encourage students to remain on the waitlist if their circumstances allow them to do so.

Housing assignments will be made throughout the summer and up through the second week of fall classes. Please continue to check your FAU student email throughout the summer for important housing status updates.

Students who are waitlisted may cancel their Housing Contract without a financial penalty. This is option 8 on the cancellation form. You may cancel your Housing Contract prior to being assigned without financial penalty. However, once you receive an assignment, you must adhere to the Terms and Conditions of the Housing Contract. It is extremely important that you cancel your Housing Contract prior to being assigned housing if you plan to find other housing options.

If you remain on the waitlist and are not assigned housing for the fall semester, we will offer to transfer your Housing Contract to the spring 2027 semester. We will send communication to your FAU email address in September to confirm if you would like your Housing Contract transferred to the spring 2027 Contract term.

This is subject to availability at the time of the assignment. It is unlikely that we will be able to accommodate roommate requests, but we will make every effort to accommodate individual requests.

No, assignments are made based on your placement on the waitlist.

Preferences will be taken into consideration. This is subject to availability at the time of the assignment.

The housing office can be contacted via email at housing@fau.edu or by phone at 561-297-2880. Housing office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

When we assign students from the waitlist, we do consider their room type and roommate preferences, however, they are subject to availability. If you have parameters that restrict what you are willing to accept for on-campus housing, you may want to consider other alternative options for Off Campus housing. Demand is very high and we will likely be limited to what is available at the time of assignment. Please note, once a student is assigned from the waitlist, they will be bound to the terms and conditions of the housing contract. This includes being financially liable to the costs for on-campus living. It is important you consider your financial circumstances prior to being assigned.

Fraternities and sororities organize a process of meeting people and building relationships. This process is called membership intake, recruitment, or rush. This process offers each student the opportunity to meet other people on campus and learn what each fraternity or sorority has to offer its members. Each of the four councils follows a slightly different schedule and process for membership recruitment. Contact the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life or the leadership of any of the four councils for more information.

There are two great websites that you should visit...

The Sorority Life: thesororitylife.com
Fraternity Info: fraternityinfo.com

Adjusting to college life is often a confusing process. By joining a fraternity or sorority your first semester, you can have an immediate “family” of friends, all willing to help you cope with the hassles of college life and experiences you’ll face. However, it is important to note that several organizations don’t allow first year students to join, allowing for the adjustment to college life. It is important to ask the individual organization about their policies regarding joining the first year.

All of the fraternities & sororities at FAU are nationally affiliated. GOOGLE them! It’s a great way to get to know the values of that organization. Your decision to join is for a lifetime, so it should be done with all seriousness. And-you can only join one!

No. Recruitment/Intake is a time to see what fraternities and sororities can offer you. Going through this process and its functions does not commit you to join.

Only you can answer that question, but make no mistake - members of fraternities and sororities will have some mandatory commitments, such as chapter meetings. While academic achievement is a primary focus, fraternities and sororities participate in a wide variety of activities, including socials, date functions, philanthropy events, Homecoming, Greek Week, and many other campus activities. Participation in these events is highly encouraged because it gives members an opportunity to meet students from other chapters and teaches the importance of time management

Also, remember that discussing time commitments for new members is an excellent topic of conversation during recruitment events!

The decision to drink or not to drink is one that every college student must make for him/herself. Many students, both affiliated and non-affiliated, choose to abstain from using alcohol and find their college experiences just as enjoyable. Fraternity & Sorority Life at Florida Atlantic has strict risk management policies which regulate the consumption of alcohol at events. Every fraternity and sorority educates its new members on these alcohol policies, as well as related issues of personal responsibility and safety.

Fraternity & Sorority life will offer you the opportunity to excel both within your chapter and on campus. All members are encouraged to take an active role within the chapter ranging from serving on committees to committee chairmanships to executive offices. In addition, there are over 100 student organizations in which you can become involved. Members are involved in nearly every aspect of these activities and can encourage fellow fraternity and sorority members take active roles in campus leadership.

Like any opportunity for involvement in college, there is a financial commitment associated with joining a fraternity or sorority. The costs go toward council and national fees, chapter operating expenses and social functions.

Be aware that additional costs may be incurred throughout the semester for gifts, pictures, t-shirts, etc.

All organizations, under the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life umbrella, fall into one of four representative councils. Each council provides services to their respective chapters, in addition to working collectively to coordinate programming for the entire fraternity and sorority community.

The governing councils at Florida Atlantic University are:

Interfraternity Council (IFC) : This council is the representative body for the traditional men’s fraternity chapters. Organized IFC Recruitment Week is held every Fall & Spring semester.

College Panhellenic Association (CPA) : This council is the representative body for traditional women’s sorority chapters. Panhellenic Formal Recruitment is held every Fall semester.

National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) : This council is the representative body for the historically African American fraternity & sorority chapters. Intake processes differ from chapter to chapter, so please contact each organization directly.

United Greek Council (UGC ): This council is the representative body for the culturally based fraternity & sorority chapters. Intake processes differ from chapter to chapter, so please contact each organization directly.

The Student Union is both a student-centered organization and a building. It is the center for community and leadership on campus. The FAU Davie Student Union provides an on-campus home for students, faculty, staff, and guests who seek cultural, social, business, educational, and recreational experiences in an environment committed to excellent service.

"SD" is the FAU code for the SD Building, also known as the Davie Student Union. If you would like to study in SD 204 or would like to attend an activity in SD 105, those events are held in the Student Union on the Davie Campus.

Inquire with the Student Union Front Desk, located in the Oasis Lounge (1st floor lobby) or the Broward Student Government Reception area (in the 2nd Floor Lobby).

Yes. The coffee is paid for with your Student Activities & Services fees.

Sign-In at the Student Union Oasis Lounge front desk

The first floor Oasis Lunge study rooms require you to sign in at the front desk with your owl card. These rooms are first come, first serve, and the time limit on the room is 3 hours. If no students are waiting for a room you may re-sign in for another 3 hours. As always, if you have any problems, please contact the Operations Manager at the Front Desk, and he or she will assist you.

There are many ways to learn about activities at the Davie Student Union, such as the following:

- For Student Union events visit the bulletin board right outside of SD 105/Heritage Hall.

- A monitor in the Oasis Lounge runs a loop of announcements/events and is updated weekly.

- Broward Student Government executive agencies, Program Board, Students Advocating Volunteer Involvement, House of Representatives, Counsel of Student Organizations, have bulletin boards on the first floor.

- Stop by the Student Involvement and Leadership office in SD 203 for more information.

At the beginning of each semester, the Student Union recruits & hires student workers on an as-needed basis. We continually accept applications, though, so if you're interested in a position with the Union, please contact the Building Coordinator. Check the bulletin boards on campus for Broward Student Government positions or stop by Room 203 of the Union and speak with representatives from the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership for other temporary opportunities like Orientation Leader or other volunteer jobs.

You'll log in with your FAUnet login ID and password. The entire Union is a wireless zone.

Your Physician or Pediatric doctor
Public schools that you may have attended.
Previous colleges and/or universities are good sources, too, especially if you are a transfer student.

Do not submit any records directly to FAU. Please use the immunization portal.

Yes. Each university stores the immunization data differently and these systems are not linked. Also, the requirement states that each university must have a copy of every student's immunization record on file.

A medical exemption can be submitted by your physician; it must include the medical reason for the exemption.

You may submit a dated letter from your physician stating your situation. Another option would be to have your blood tested for immunity to Measles and Rubella (results must be positive). Pregnant women are routinely tested for Rubella, so you could get a copy of that from your OB/GYN.

You have the option of having a blood test done to show the presence of the Measles and Rubella antibodies. If the test results are positive and show immunity to Measles and Rubella, then this would be acceptable. However, if these tests came back negative, then you would have to show proof of immunization.

Immunizations given prior to your first birthday may be ineffective because your immune system was not fully developed. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that Measles and Rubella immunizations be given after you are one year of age.

Yes. Once you have been admitted to FAU, you are eligible to use Student Health Services to receive MMRs, Hepatitis B and Meningitis vaccines, as well as titers for Measles and Rubella. If you have applied to FAU, but not yet been admitted, we will ask you to wait until your admission has been confirmed.
