Office of the provost

Welcome to the Office of Interprofessional Education and Practice

The dynamics of the current healthcare environment and the needs of the communities we serve call for a collaborative approach as we focus on learning how to provide the safest and best quality of care for all persons. The Office of IPE&P endeavors to create and implement educational experiences to address the four competencies under the domain of interprofessional collaboration, which are: values/ethics, roles/responsibilities, interprofessional communication, teams, and teamwork. As we work together to learn and apply these Core Competencies of Interprofessional Collaborative Practice, we emphasize the value of each profession and the role interprofessional teams play in addressing the Quintuple Aim of improving population health, reducing costs, enhancing the patient experience of care, improving the work-life of health providers, and the most recent focus on health equity.

We invite you to peruse our site and explore opportunities for interprofessional growth with us.

Distinguished Teacher of the Year

The Distinguished Teacher of the Year Award is Florida Atlantic University's highest teaching honor. Introduced in 1969, this award is made on the basis of scholarship, research and publications, classroom teaching, academic counseling, and University and community service. The winner is selected by students. The recipient receives a cash award and delivers the keynote address at Honors Convocation in the spring and Freshman Convocation in the fall. Nominations are made by students in January; each college's Student Advisory Committee selects the finalist from its college. One DTOY winner is then selected from the field of nine finalists by the University Student Advisory Committee on the basis of his or her portfolio and an in-person interview. The title listed for each honoree is the one that he or she held at the time the award was made.
