Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship

Thank you for your interest in the Florida Atlantic University Hospice & Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program. We are proud to offer an ACGME-accredited fellowship dedicated to preparing physicians to deliver thoughtful, high-quality hospice and palliative care. Since its establishment in 2019, our program has focused on developing compassionate, skilled clinicians who are also effective educators, advocates, and leaders in the field.

Our fellowship offers a flexible, learner- approach that supports both professional development and personal well-being. Fellows receive comprehensive training with patients from a wide range of backgrounds across a variety of settings, including inpatient hospice units, hospital-based palliative consult services, palliative outpatient clinics, long-term care facilities, simulation centers and home-based hospice care.

Training is supported by strong partnerships with Delray Medical Center, Baptist Health Boca Raton Regional Hospital, John Knox Village, Lynn Cancer Institute and Trustbridge—the largest nonprofit hospice provider in South Florida. Fellows benefit from a stimulating blend of education, mentorship from board-certified faculty, and opportunities for scholarly work.

You will also collaborate closely with interdisciplinary team members—social workers, nurses, chaplains, therapists, and volunteers—to develop care plans that reflect patients' values and needs with dignity. Fellows also play a key role in medical education, working closely with FAU residents and students to teach the core principles of hospice and palliative care.

The program also offers a range of elective options tailored to your interests, including interventional radiology, wound care, hematology/oncology, radiation oncology, pain management, and surgical procedures.

Our program offers a rich, well-rounded training experience that prepares fellows to become not only outstanding clinicians, but also future leaders in the field. We look forward to receiving your application and supporting your journey in hospice and palliative medicine at Florida Atlantic University.
