Message from the Chair
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatics Engineering website at Florida Atlantic University (FAU). After 16 years of service as a faculty member, I am honored to lead our department, which is recognized for excellence in learning, discovery, and engagement. Throughout the years, we have made significant progress in advancing cutting-edge research, providing outstanding educational experiences for our students, and preparing the next generation workforce to harness the power of engineering and technology and make the world a smarter and better place for all.
The Department focuses on providing a high-quality education through a combination of academics, professionalism, teamwork, and ethics, with a vision to be nationally and internationally recognized as an eminent engineering program with excellence in education, research, and community engagement. We can be justifiably proud of our past achievements, which have been built on hard work, dedication, and academic rigor. We offer three robust academic programs in civil, environmental and geomatics engineering and we are aware that our faculty holds themselves to the highest standards of excellence, allowing us to deliver knowledge and expertise across a broad spectrum.
I am pleased to report that our department has also performed admirably in terms of research. Every year, faculty members bring millions of dollars in research funding from federal, state agencies or local funding sources that include the involvement of many of our graduate and undergraduate students. We conduct cutting-edge research in areas such as structural health monitoring, environmental sustainability, infrastructure resilience, supply chain and logistics, and intelligent transportation systems. The department is very proud of its advisory board members, alumni, and current students, and I am confident that our future will be even brighter. With continued student growth, world-class educational facilities, and interdisciplinary research opportunities, our department has emerged as a truly premier destination for students, researchers, and faculty from around the world.
I invite you to explore our website to learn more about our programs and the innovative work of our faculty, staff, and students. We are grateful to our sponsors and partners for their generous donations to the department in support of our programs and students. We welcome opportunities to interact with you as well as your feedback, and we hope you will share your thoughts with us. With your assistance and the hard work of our faculty, staff, and students, we will be able to accomplish even more in the coming years. Please pay us a visit. We would be delighted to connect. Go, Owls!
