Discover FAU With the College of Education
The College of Education at FAU prepares educators, leaders and clinicians to serve six public school districts, including Broward and Palm Beach Counties—two of the largest in the nation. The College of Education comprises five academic departments: Communication Sciences and Disorders; Counselor Education; Curriculum and Instruction; Educational Leadership and Research Methodology; and Special Education.
In addition to its nationally recognized academic programs, the College oversees University public laboratory schools that serve as demonstration sites for teacher education; curriculum development; and educational research. These schools span the full spectrum of K-20 education. The College also includes several centers that extend its impact in the community: the Pine Jog Environmental Education Center, which provides environmental education to Broward and Palm Beach County Schools and broader communities; the Center for Autism & Related Disabilities, offering free expert consulting, training, and support to individuals with autism and related disabilities, their families, and professionals; and the Communication Disorders Clinic, which provides diagnostic and treatment services for a wide range of communication challenges, serving both the FAU community and broader public.
The College of Education supports a robust research program with faculty conducting research in a variety of education related fields. Faculty have been awarded numerous grants from the U.S. Department of Education, the Institute of Education Sciences, the National Science Foundation, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the Department of Defense, the Florida Department of Education, and a number of state, local, and private agencies.
